Proverbs 8 - Following Jesus to Our Mansion

Well, I’m through all of the “righteousness” verses in Psalms, and have moved on to Proverbs.  The word righteousness doesn’t appear nearly as often in Proverbs, about 15 times.  The first one is Proverbs 8:20.

As I have written in Creation Account in Proverbs, Proverbs 8 is a biographical account of the personification of wisdom, as if a woman.  Wisdom, throughout the first half of Proverbs, is the opposite and counterpart to the Adulteress, who represents Satan and the sinful life we are all tempted to lead to varying degrees and at various times.  Wisdom however is there to rescue us, to shelter us, but we don’t always see Her or hear Her, though she be right there.  In Proverbs 8 however, when Wisdom finally speaks for Herself, we find that She was with God at Creation, by His side eternally and is the Word by which God created all there is… and when you compare that role to the description of Jesus in John 1:1-3, it becomes obvious that Wisdom is a literary manifestation of Jesus.

Therefore, when we see Wisdom speaking of Herself, we can assume it is Jesus speaking of Himself.

20 I walk in the way of righteousness,
       along the paths of justice,

21 bestowing wealth on those who love me
       and making their treasuries full.

I cannot say why, but this reminds of when Jesus said in John 14:1-2,  “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”(NKJV)  And now, we are on our journey to that place that Christ has prepared for us, and I suspect when I get there, I will find a mansion prepared, with a full treasury.  Therefore, I plan to follow Jesus in the way of righteousness, along the path of justice, believing and obeying God through His Word, and living in purity out of zealousness for God’s honor.
