Was Solomon a Republican?
 Proverbs 12
11 He who works his land will have abundant food,
but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment.
I laughed this morning when I saw this verse that accurately describes my perspective on a significant portion of Democrats vs. Republicans… or more accurately, Liberals vs. Conservatives. Please note that I am not talking about the majority of left-leaning people I know, who are simply trying to pick the most compassionate perspective they can, or are justifiably outraged at historical misjudgements of the right, but I am talking about liberals who do not realize how their policies and approaches create the very conditions of social inequity and economic hardship they seek (or purport) to prevent… policies that come from emotion-based acedemia, and have no realized historical basis.
For example, I believe that the equilibrium Obama is seeking in his re-orientation of our country is chasing a fantasy, being based on a utopian view of equality versus sound economic principles, and that most republicans were asleep at the wheel politically speaking during our last transition, because they are more busy earning money for their family than they are transforming society.Â
That said, there are many Christians who are trying to stop the snowball from rolling down the hill… but it’s already rolling. Abortion is mainstream, prayer is offensive, and science appears at odds with the Bible. But, instead of working our land providing food for our families, and being good witnesses throughout the process, we make ourselves look like kooks and get alienated through our misled participation in the political process… Christians chasing political fantasies? Absolutely. And when we do, we lack the same judgement I believe the politically active liberals possess. The difference? Conservative fantasies are such because not enough people vote for them; liberal fantasies because they are not sound… when Obama’s policies don’t work, he’ll just say he didn’t do enough. (big sigh)
I actually think that all voting is to some extent chasing a fantasy, and that we all lack judgement to the extent that we passionately forget God in the polling booth.
