Daniel 12:3 - Leading others to Righteousness

3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.

I find it interesting that Daniel was told that we are too lead people to righteousness, and yet the goal of modern Judaism is not to do that, but to simply live righteously.  It is Christians who try and lead people to righteousness, specifically: belief, obedience, and zealousness for God’s name.

I believe this is one of the reasons God brought about the church.  It is sad to me, but as a rule my fellow Jews do not see it as their responsibility to add names to the book of life, except perhaps for their children.  They have let Christians take that honor as their own.  The possible exception are the Orthodox Jews… if there is anything more peculiar (in a good way) than a Godly Christian, it’s an Orthodox Jew… and they will answer your questions if you ask, and show you the way toward conversion if that be your choice.  It is the very same attitude that many Christians I know have chosen for themselves, when they are too inhibited to actively evangelize.

For today God, it is my prayer that I be an example that leads people to righteousness.  At the very least, my own family.  But it is my prayer to be an example to others.  As a Jew, I prayer for peculiarity; as a Christian, I pray for the courage to evangelize, where someone needs that extra push (or nudge) toward God.  Amen.
