I say ”for now” in my title, because I have not read the entire book. Walt Brown goes on to describe many of the earth’s features in terms of the Hydroplate Theory he laid out. At this point, I’m a little spent, because ripping apart arguments of fellow Christians makes me feel very unloving, and it isn’t good for me. I do want to give the rest of his book the kind of attention it deserves (I mean this in a good way), but I also need to do what is good for me, and moving on to the rest of book at this time would not be.

I do not believe he has the firm grasp on hydro dynamics that his theory’s name would suggest. Still, the type of reaction I concluded would happen from Brown’s initial conditions would produce sufficiently similar results to what he predicts (a build-up of energy massive enough to impact the entire worlds continental plates), such that it makes sense for me to move forward. I must say, that my respect for Walt Brown as a Christian is not coming out in my critique. I am, by nature, very critical when I think someone is wrong, and I really strongly hugely disagree with Walt Brown’s characterization of things regarding Evolution and various aspects of science. That said, I really respect the lengths and efforts he goes to in order to strengthen people’s faith in Christ. I was starting to critique Brown’s misunderstanding of how plate tectonics work, when I realized something. Though he discusses the mid-oceanic ridge and subduction on the same page, he never addresses the theory for how they would work together.  He never actually says they don’t work together, just that plates don’t move.  They don’t move apart, and they don’t move together.  They just don’t move. Period. I don’t agree.

Since the late 1800s, the standard answer has been that primarily the Colorado River carved the Grand Canyon over millions of years.
