Genesis 2:1-3 - “ 1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. 2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done."

Introduction
After blessing mankind to subdue the earth, God rested from His work. It was the first sabbath, and mankind was commissioned to keep it holy. But, exactly what was God resting from? And what does it tell us about Evolution? By reviewing God's work during the 6 Creation Days, it reveals something very suprising... (macro-)Evolution ended.
3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy,
because on it he rested
from all the work of creating that he had done.
Creation Evolution Summary
Depending on your perpsective, one could say Evolution began when God created the heavens and the earth. Or it began with the appearance of fossil bacteria around the start of Creation Day 2. Either way, it continued until God's blessing on Creation Day 6.
Scientifically and Biblically, God interrupted Evolution several times to accomplish His will: On Creation Day 3, He took eukaryotes and prokaryotes and allowed their symbiosis to evolve plants. On Creation Day 5, God allowed a meteor to impact the earth (65 Ma - million years ago) and destroy the dinosaurs. From the survivors came a plethora of sealife, birds, and whales. New land mammals appeared as well, the ancestors of whales and of the life God created on Day 6.
On Creation Day 6, God allowed another extinction event to occur. Most land-based life died off again, and from the survivors evolved cattle, creeping things, and beasts. These included primates, from whom mankind began to evolve around 5.5 Ma. This continued until the appearance of Homo Sapiens 250 Ka (thousand years ago), whom God blessed to subdue the earth, rule the animals, and eat from all seeded plants and fruit trees.
This account is consistent with the mainstream scientific record, and with what the scripture literally says.
And then God rested.
From What Did God Rest?
Jesus was God the Father's master craftsman during Creation. As the Father would command, Jesus would let the next phase of creation occur. It usually meant interrupting the natural occurance of things, and then allowing nature (so to speak) to recover as designed. The interruptions to Evolution on Creation Days 3, 5, and 6 are mentioned above. In addition was Jesus' interruption of meteor strikes on Creation Day 1 and torrential rains on Creation Day 2. On some occasions, it would seem Jesus merely oversaw the continuation of what was started. This includes the eruption of mountains out of the seas on Creation Day 3 and the clearing of the atmosphere by plants on Creation Day 4. In every case, on every day, something was allowed to happen; God said to let it. That is why we see Evolution in the fossil record, and it is why we do not observe the evolution of new kinds of life today.
Conclusion
God was never subjected to Evolution. Evolution was allowed to happen. On Day 7, it would largely end. God's creation was complete. If we don't observe evolution today, it's because God rested.
